This is a phrase from AA. I’m including it here because this is what I did to a dear friend of mine recently. It means telling the person every fault you think they have all in one go.

Now I feel awful. Will he ever talk to me again? It’s only been 2 days. Feels like forever. I think we also had been being each other’s therapists. The lines between that and our friendship have been blurred. Exactly what we said we DIDN’T want to happen!

Yeah dr phil used to call it "taking another person's inventory." But really, even therapists dont usually talk to a client like that - "you do this and this and this." Plus they say that the faults we find most objectionable in other people are the ones we ourselves have.
