I can’t get out of bed despite being bored. I’m overwhelmed but underwhelmed. I procrastinate. I can’t concentrate on reading or watching TV. Like right now I have infomercials on and there’s a ton of stuff I want to watch but I just can’t.

My doctor suggested Adderal so so brought it up with my therapist who said “you seem like you have ADHD.”

I feel like everything these last few years makes sense.

Like ai don’t feel depressed. Or anxious. I just feel something.

You want to do everything at once with ADHD, you can't stop, things just get too boring you move on,it's not even simple lack of focus, try to wait out 2 min to brush your teeth, it's a miracle if you can, a miracle if you can shut down to sleep at nighty, it's not being bored it's having too much you want to do ASAP and you feel you have to do it all at one and as a result make a mess of everything It's NOT lying in beg all day doing nothing.

Combining uppers with downers could be interesting for you to say the least. Monitor yourself closely.

The upper (adderall) combined with the downer (benzo) could cause body/brain confusion over which one dominates or cancel each other out. This can lead to taking more benzos trying to get the calming effect that has been cancelled out by the adderall.

Not sure if I can post a link, but if I can't the site is ip-psych and the article is "The dangers of taking a stimulant and a benzodiazepine at the same time"

After I made the above post, I began to wonder if your described symptoms are a result of long term benzo use.
I'm assuming you are under daily benzo use with your doctor's blessing, which is unusual today. Many doctors will only prescribe them short term because of all the problems with long term use.
Do you have a goal or desire to eventually reduce or eliminate it? You may be amazed at how much better you feel, especially if you work with a therapist to learn new tools to deal with anxiety when it arises.

I realize your prescriptions are between you and your doctor, so forgive me if I am overstepping any boundaries.

Here is a quick search result compliments of google.

What are the long-term effects of benzodiazepines?
AI Overview
Long-term use of benzodiazepines can lead to physical and psychological dependence, tolerance, and a worsening of the very symptoms they are meant to treat, such as anxiety and sleep problems. Other effects include cognitive issues like memory loss and difficulty concentrating, emotional changes like irritability or depression, and an increased risk of falls, especially in older adults.
Cognitive and psychiatric effects
  • Cognitive impairment:
Problems with memory, difficulty concentrating, and trouble learning new skills are common long-term effects.
Physical effects
  • Increased risk of falls: Side effects like confusion, dizziness, and sedation can increase the risk of falls, which can lead to serious injury.
Other important considerations
  • Worsening of underlying conditions:
Long-term use can interfere with psychotherapy and may exacerbate conditions like PTSD and phobias.
    Worsening symptoms:
The use of benzodiazepines for longer than a few weeks can lead to a worsening of anxiety, insomnia, and other psychiatric symptoms.
    Emotional changes:
Long-term use may lead to increased irritability, anxiety, aggression, or personality changes.
    Dependence and addiction:
The risk of developing a substance use disorder (dependence) increases with long-term use.
    Tolerance:
The body can develop a tolerance, requiring higher doses to achieve the same effect.
Sleep disturbances: While used for sleep, long-term use can disrupt normal sleep architecture and worsen sleep quality.
  • Other physical symptoms: These can include lethargy, weakness, headaches, nausea, and tremors.
  • Worsening of psychiatric symptoms:
In some cases, long-term use can lead to a worsening of depression and suicidality.
    Risk of overdose:
Combining benzodiazepines with other central nervous system depressants like alcohol or opioids significantly increases the risk of overdose.
    Withdrawal:
When stopping long-term use, withdrawal symptoms can occur. However, psychiatric symptoms are typically less severe after discontinuation compared to while taking the medication.

I agree that ADHD is how you described it. ADD though could be simply unable to focus on a task even if it’s just watching a movie. Not being hyperactive. Why would they even suggest ADHD?

I agree that staying in bed it’s typically not a symptom of either one of attention deficits

How do they all of a sudden determined you have ADHD. Did they ever suggest it before? All of a sudden they want to add more meds….Without proper ADD or AHDH diagnosis

What you described doesn’t sound like attention deficit to me at all. I am not a doctor but I deal with disabilities and disorders for a living and I just don’t recognize it. I don’t see any hyperactivity for sure. It’s more like inactivity. You sound lethargic and as above poster suggested it could be side effects of too many meds for too long

Of course it’s just my opinion.

I’m not sure whether or not to reply ….

But nothing you’ve ever posted sounds like my son who has a confirmed diagnosis by a paediatrician of ADHD.

My pdoc was confused. He said it could be the Valium but then he also said that it seems like it’s mostly just physical stuff. He had some sugggestions I need to ask my pcp about. I also switched my meds around so I’m not taking them at random times. I had ChatGPT make me a med schedule and it was able to put meds together that should go in the AM and stuff that worked the most in the PM.

I did admit I wanted to lower the Valium. I bought this OTC vitamin called Hello something and I guess it’s like the OTC version of Adderal. I definitely had more energy but I need to ask my doc if it’s ok to take while going down on Valium. I also bought some Olly stress gummies but those might be an issue with some of my meds.

My endocrinologist had mentioned I possibly need to “give” blood because one of my levels is a bit too high. So I called the office and he is going to put in an order to the infusion center. Often when my level is high I am very lethargic and low in energy but not depressed or anxious.

My therapist had me do an ADHD test and I scored likely to have it. So now everything I mention she talks about it being ADHD. I have a huge of laundry to do and I haven’t taken a shower in a week. But the idea of it sounds really overwhelming.

Also the more caffeine I drink the lower my anxiety and stress is and the better my sleep is. I drank a Red Bull at 2AM and I fell back asleep from 2:30-6AM

I have to get blood work done and it doesn’t have to be done tomorrow. I can wait until Wednesday or Thursday. I kinda want to get it done so I’m going back and forth about what to do. I think I can do myself a favor and get it done on Wednesday.

I can’t really focus on much of anything. I haven’t read a book in 3 years because I’ll start one and immediately want to chuck it across the room because I can’t concentrate.

And I keep losing things. I have lost about 3 pairs of headphones recently and I can’t find the left one of my current pair. These are like Beats and AirPods. So they aren’t inexpensive ones.
