I got a set recently, it includes things like serum, eye cream and more, and it was expensive. I am willing to pay it if it works, but I'm not sure if it's a preventative, something that takes a long time to work, or just companies trying to sell me something I don't need. I am looking to know whether anyone else uses one, what products you use , whether it works and have noticed any differences

I definitely notice a difference when I stop moisturising. My skin goes all dry. When I go back to work tomorrow I’ll be into my daily skincare routine of moisturising and applying my serum. And hopefully reapplying makeup which Ive neglected these holidays. Just eyeliner.

You need a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer, a topical retinoid on some nights, and, crucially important, daily sunscreen.

Everything else is companies trying to sell you things you do not need. Especially eye cream, which is a moisturizer packaged in a small time and priced shamelessly high.

I was obsessed with my skin and washed twice a day and bought serums and good products from some small company like gel and vitamin c and a cream. Then I stopped all of a sudden and don't even wash my face anymore.
Pores in my face always bothered me.

AF:

Overwashing is counterproductive, but once a day wash (can be in the shower) with a gentle cleanser is good for you.

Vitamin C products are beneficial in theory, but most are unstable and this cannot deliver on their promises. You will be far better off with adapalene, which can be obtained without a prescription from Amazon or a drugstore.

My cousin, who owned a gas station / auto repair, always complimented me on how well my cars' paint jobs looked. I told him there were two reasons for that: 1, i never let a man drive my car, and 2, i never wash them (the cars, not the men!). So that leaves a good coating on the paint, so when you DO finally wash it, it looks terrific! I'm now hoping the same will be true for my face.
