Anyone ever have a crush on someone and it wasn't returned? I had that many times.
I had a huge crush on a grad student in college and I had severe problems holding a conversation back then and couldn't talk to her. I consequently had a nervous breakdown and left school.

Crushes aren't love, they are infatuations in your own mind about what you wish something was. The nervous break down was probably more about your struggles to interface or as DBT calls it, Interpersonal Effectiveness with others than it was about what you called "unrequited love"

I agree with eskie. To truly love someone you need to know them well. Otherwise it’s a crush, not love. Was I infatuated with some people? Sure. Not my proud moments. It most certainly was not love though
