There’s this brand called Dash that makes these little single serve cooking things. I have a sandwich maker. A mini egg maker which can also be used for making cookie. And I just ordered this $12 microwave spaghetti cooker. I have a Dash rice cooker too.

I don’t like using the stove but the stuff I’ve been eating hasn’t been helping me out much.
I used the sandwich maker last night and it was really easy. Tomorrow I’m going to use the griddle to make cookies.

I’m trying to be more independent.

I second the George Foreman. I mean I prefer using a stove because the little appliances tend to be expensive and a butch to clean and store but to each their own, but I grew up making grilled cheese and tuna melts on a George Foreman and when I got older and thirteen year old me had the confidence to handle raw meat beyond hot dogs, chicken and hamburgers were on the table.

Air fryer is the most amazing invention. Try that

I used some of the Dash appliances and gave up because they were so hard to clean.

Air fryers are great. I use mine a lot. We also recently bought an Oster sandwich maker that has space to make two sandwiches, perfect for me and my husband.

I made a couple cookies with the mini dash griddle but they were half baked half melted. Which wasn’t that bad because it was eat or bake cookie dough so it was safe. I do have an air fryer and I’ve used it before to make French fries and chicken nuggets and zucchini boats. We had a George Foreman grill when I was a kid but now we use a toaster oven.

I still have just been grazing on trail mix and beef jerky these last couple of days

I'm curious why you don't like using the stove.

I ask because sometimes I avoid using it because OCD (now officially diagnosed) has me worrying too much that I didn't turn it off and I'm going to be the reason the whole block burns down, and if I actually turned it on the thoughts are soooo bad and if I leave after cooking something I struggle to not run home. But I try not to let that get to me too much because I do realize it's just my head working against me, and I do love cooking a lot. I was wondering what your stove-avoidance reasoning is

We had a gas stove and I was always scarred I was going to fill the house with gas and cause an explosion. Now we have an electric stove but it still freaks me out when the water starts boiling.

My spaghetti maker actually worked out really well last night.

Ah that makes sense. I very much will not use a gas stove without supervision haha. What if you started getting comfortable with the electric stove by making stuff that doesn't involve boiling water like pancakes, eggs, things with ground meat, grilled cheese, etc. every now and then, I don't know, save it as an idea for if you get sick of cleaning the mini appliances?
