All the house rentals I found on Craigslist last year were fake. I found an apartment in Annapolis yesterday on Craigslist and don't know if it's legit. The contact sent me a lease to complete and told me to transfer money to the landlord's fiance. I don't know how to transfer money from bank to bank except with Zelle so he agreed and told me to send it to the landlords' cousin's Zelle account.
There was a woman's name on the lease and an address in Mississippi. How do I tell if all of this is legit?

My scam alert is flashing red when someone does not accept check or credit card @ArthurFonzarelli - you could check with the city hall and ask who owns the property and their address. Go to google Earth and that address and see what it looks like.
THe only time I use Craigslist is for free stuff. Why not follow your experience from the past and run! CANDC [If you want me to see your reply to this post please tag me by including @CANDC in your message - not in requoting my message and not the first word of your message]

I was told by one of the moderators that this is a scam. Wells Fargo said I should get my money back after they investigate. @CANDC. I was really worried. Townhouse I have now was from Craigslist and the guy sounded kind of legit.

It’s a scam. Don’t send money anywhere. You need to inspect the place first. There is likely no apartment at all

Oh, there is an apartment. I looked at the building on Google. But I asked the guy for the landlord's name and phone and never heard back from him. Wells Fargo said I should get my money back.

It is obviously a scam. And when they said send them the money, what was the money for? To review your lease application and run your credit report? That is not a lot of money. Is it that amount of money you are trying to get back? Or did you pay rent that way?
I am surprised Wells Fargo didn't remind you of the warnings they must have issued, and repeatedly, when you were in the process of sending a Zelle.

Wells Fargo denied my $1000 claim for Craigslist. They said they're not liable. Originally they said I'd get money back. Pissed off. Tired of people walking all over me.

Wells Fargo issues ample warnings any time you try sending even a small Zelle to a new contact, to say nothing about a thousand dollar Zelle. Wells Fargo reminds you that sending a Zelle islike giving cash and there is no way to undo it. Or maybe it is Zelle and not Wells Fargo that issues repeated scam earnings when you attempt sending to a new phone number or email address. At any rate, you have been repeatedly warned and Wells Fargo is off the hook. But you have some names and phone numbers and if there are real people behind them, locally, you can sue in a small claims court. You were promised an apartment, you paid, you received nothing in return, a straightforward case. But I doubt the recipient of your Zelle payment was a local person you can hunt down.
While Wells Fargo doesn't owe you money, you may be able to get them identity of the Zelle recipient from them, since you reported a scam to them. You can also talk to a police officer and see if they have any pointers on how to go after the scammers.
