venting about teenage sexual behavior

Possible trigger:

so, when i was 16 i found a side of social media. this side was full of teenagers sexualizing themselves to adults. at first i thought it was disgusting (because it is, and i hope this doesn’t sound like i’m blaming the minors bc i’m not it’s the adults fault), but then i started seeing the attention these teens were getting, and i wanted that. i tried to resist, but i joined that community. i knew exactly what i was doing, but i didn’t care what happened to me. i thought the only people who would want me in that way were adults

]nothing bad happened to me while doing this, i wasn’t manipulated or anything. i didn’t send or post explicit photos, i would just post photos of my outfits and when they would message me explicit things i went along with it. the adults were around 21-28, i was kind of afraid to go above that. they were all nice and respectful. despite this, i had negative feelings and reactions to this experience, it was most likely due to the fact that i wasn’t the age of consent in my state (i didn’t know that the age of consent was 16 in most places, it’s 18 in mine and i thought that was universal until i learned it wasn’t universal. none of the adults lived in my state so it was most likely legal for them), i felt horrible even though i also felt extreme happiness while getting this attention. i kept deactivating my account and then proceeding to reactivate it. i knew it was wrong, and i hated doing things that were wrong but i also couldn’t stop.

Possible trigger:

i didn’t fully stop doing that until i was 17, i would deactivate my accounts and stop talking to everyone and then i would come back with a new. account and find people to talk to. i finally stopped when i got some harsh words from reddit strangers when i stupidly decided to post about the situation.

i’m almost 19 now, and i still think about the situation. i still kind of feel the negative affects even though literally nothing bad happened to me back then, there’s nothing for me to be negatively affected by, but i am. it’s not as bad as it used to be, i don’t think about it every day now but i still get reminders.

sorry if this sounds weird or makes no sense, this was a strange situation that i put myself in and i’ve been thinking about it again which is why i’m discussing it here

Personally I would not have gone to a site like that because that is not where my values ever were whether or not anything ever happened. Sometimes our own conscience speaks our values louder to us than anyone else can & our conscience is something we should listen to
