I find life and doing the things that need to get done is easier if I treat myself like not myself. Like if I have a thought I don't agree with in my mind I'll kind say at it "and you can go pound sand, sir," or something. Or sometimes if I don't want to eat (like lunch today) it's like "well, they'd probably appreciate me having that sandwich" so yeah, I made and ate the sandwich but not really "for myself" but yeah, for myself.

I don't fking know how to explain.

It’s a start. It’s on the right road. You shouldn’t expect to go from dysfunctional to perfect human in one jump. There’s nothing wrong with doing it that way if it gets the goals met. Most of us are flawed and still using catch as can methods to try and do better. Speaking for myself I had a much better childhood so am further down the road but still doing things *** backwards sometimes. Being bipolar or just wacky human, don’t know. But it’s a long road. I’d say if it’s working use it for now.

I'd say what's really going to make the difference for you is simply noticing that you sometimes do (and apparently sometimes don't) make a distinction between "for yourself" and "not for yourself".

That's perfect! Sounds like you experienced whatever you experienced; you communicated it, apparently successfully (unless you want to claim that no one got it); and you didn't go on to dismiss ("kill"?) the experience with an explanation.

Why is that what’s going to make the difference?

A somewhat sassy answer would be something that I posted 15 years ago: "Why?"

A straighter, if not very adequate, answer would be:

Thanks for this!

The voice you are arguing with is not "reslly" you, its your negative introject - the bad parent who as they say nowadays lives rentfree in your head. That voice doesnt deserve argument. It has fixed the scales pardon the expression so that it always wins and we always lose. It doesnt deserve our respect. It will never acknowledge that we are a good person - only that we are a sucker.
