Dear friends,

Today's message I get daily from the teacher of my meditation practice says, concerning the development of a person's evolvement into harmony, if you will, "In the second stage a man is decent and good as long as his interests are concerned. As long as he can get his wish fulfilled he is pleasant and kind and good and harmonious; but if he cannot get his wish and cannot have his way, then he becomes rough and crude and changes completely." That is the way the present manager of my apartment buildling is. Today is her last day. Yesterday she put a letter to all tenants on out shelves, outside each apartment door. She has veiled threats to us, if we talk about the truth of her abuse AFTER she leaves. Essentially she is still trying to control is AFTER SHE LEAVES.

As usual, stuff like this upsets me a lot.

Yesterday here, a person wrote that s/he uses the distraction technique when s/he is getting upset. The writer says this calms her/him down for the moment only, so s/he doesn't lose her present time peace. That's a good point. I'll try that. But distration doesn't usually work for more than a minute or two.

Sorry you have to contend with difficult persons @WantToShare but maybe they can teach us to practice patience.

Following the breath can be a helpful technique.

Seeing how the other person is suffering can allow us to have compassion for them and not get hijacked by anger.

Your teacher implies that we need to go beyond self interest to actually have altruistic intentions for others.

@WantToShare
It's been 6 days now and I'm wondering if the situation is improved.
Distractions have seldom been helpful to me either. Distraction in that situation doesn't seem like it would have been very helpful.
When this woman warned against talking about her abusiveness did she mean something more as in reporting the abuse? She sounds like a real witch so I'm glad for you and the others that she is gone.
