Hi,

I've got lupus and hashimotos thyroiditis, which caused issues for my thyroids and liver, destroyed my metabolism, and caused weight gain. I need to stop my lithium to let the wegovy work, but I'm allergic to pretty much any other mood stabilizer that could replace it.

Is there a vitamin regimen I can take to help keep my moods stable while I take a break from lithium? I'm going to talk to my doc about it later I just wanted a few ideas. TIA!

Current Schedule:
Weekly on Saturday - Wegovy injection
8:00am - Levothyroxine 100mcg
8:30am - Adderall 5mg
12.30pm
- NAC 600mg
- Adderall 5mg
- Magnesium 240mg
- Choline 533mg
- Selenium 200mcg
8:30pm
- Xarelto 20mg
- Lithium 300mg ER
- Hydroxychloroquine 200mg
- Errin 0.35mg
- Claritin 10mg

Many people try different natural remedies to keep their moods stable. There is no one suggestion that would work for everyone. Talking to doc is best @Fury

@CANDC

I'm already planning to talk to my doctor I'm just looking for ideas from people with experience so I can have an informed conversation with my doctor.

I know B and D, along with magnesium can help with mood. There are so many forms of magnesium, I am not sure which one is best.

If you can get it, a blood panel showing your levels of vitamins and minerals can help you make a plan. That is how I learned that I do not metabolize B9 and B12 in the forms that come in supplements because I had massive overdoses in my blood.

Why do you think that Lithium will prevent Wegovy from working? I lost weight on Ozempic and later Zepbound while taking Zyprexa, and Zyprexa caused more weight gain than Lithium . I use Zepbound plus work out a lot as an antidote ty Zyprexa. Zyorexa keeps me stable but causes hunger, so I take Zepbound to balance things out.

Ibused to have fatty liver disease, but not any more. All my blood tests are nornal.

How long have you been on Wegovy and Lithium together before you decided that Lithium doesn't allow Wegovy to work? How many hours a week do you work out?

I have read your message again, on the big screen and not on the smartphone. You are saying that the weight gain happened not even due to Lithium, but due to your somatic health conditions. Plus, you are taking a very small dose of Lithium (do you reach therapeutic blood levels on 300 mg per day?). Weight gain on Lithium, already considered modest compared to other drugs, such as Depakote, Seroquel, Zyprexa, can follow a dose-dependent trajectory, and since you are on a low dose, Lithium may not be the major contributor to weight gain.

Regarding your existing supplements, you take Choline, which can be obtained from egg yolks, and selenium, which can be obtained from Brazil nuts. In general, if possible, it is better to obtain micronutrients from food: you will get much more than just an isolated micronutrient from food. Maybe ask your doctor for an RD referral and look at your diet to see what dietary modifications can help you meet the intake requirements without supplementation. I realize this is not what you posted about, but it is just so odd to fault a tiny quantity of Lithium and believe that it will not let Wegovy do its work.
