As the general idea goes, nightmares involve monsters, disturbing scenarios, and horror themes. For me, that’s an exciting and fun dream to have. My nightmares are different— typically, they are about me losing people I love, stressful situations in my life, or examples of my less-desirable self showing through. I recently had a nightmare this week about my current job; I wrote about it in a different post on here. Last night, I had another nightmare: I walked into a sandwich shop and the girl at the counter didn’t make my sandwich even though i had paid for it. When I went back, the manager was at the counter— an old woman with major RBF. When I explained the situation, she called me a brat, said it was all my fault, and refused to acknowledge what had happened, so I grabbed her by her hair, slammed her head on the counter, and then dragged her out into the shop. And then I got sued and imprisoned.

There have only been two nightmares I’ve had that made me wake up sobbing; the first was when I was a kid. My dad and I were playing in a field, and all of a sudden, he sprouted wings and flew away, and he never came back. The second was when I was older; I had a nightmare about my grandmother dying.

I don’t know why I’ve been having these nightmares recently; I’m thinking it’s just all the stress I’ve been under. Regardless, I wish they’d stop. They are really screwing with my sleep and making me wake up each day feeling badly about myself.

My nightmares are more the stuff of talking head songs. I walk the halls of my high school, all night long, looking for my classroom. I can't remember where I parked my car. I spend all night looking for it. Stupid low level anxiety stuff that prevents decent sleep.
I did have two technicolor night terrors in my life, following a post ictal phase of insomnia.
Possible trigger:

The other dream involved my sheltering in my basement while nuclear war ravaged overhead.
Both dreams were terrifying. I remember one other bad dream.
Possible trigger:

I have weird nightmares too. Like I am trying to make a phone call and yet my iPhone just won't take the number -- and it seems to go on all night.

I noticed a couple of times I can get nightmares.

1. When I am in Ketosis. Typically after not eating enough / or not eating enough carbs. Usually this happens after 3 am. Eating carbs / protien close to bed might help.

2. When I am stressed. Not sure why but my theory is I never really get into deep sleep.
Thanks for this!

I have a lot of nightmares ever since my life went to crap. Frequent or recurring nightmares involve getting lost in a strange place, taking an exam in college for a class I haven’t even taken or not being able to find a restroom.

My nightmares always feel real. Anything I’m anxious about I usually have nightmares about. Yesterday I had to go to the Social Security office. Last week I had nightmares that they would insist on an original document and I didn’t know how to get it. For some reason, an actress on a soap opera I watch was in it. I don’t like her or her character.

I’ve had nightmares about my phone. I know it’s mine but I get strange images appearing and calls won’t go through.

All kinds of nightmares, makes sleep scary at times. Someone had AI analyze one of them. VERY disturbing stuff!
